Bigelow Laboratory Tour Schedule
East Boothbay, Maine, June 30, 2014 Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences is inviting the public into its Ocean Science and Education Campus in East Boothbay for tours on alternating Friday afternoons beginning July 11 from 3:00 p.m to 4:30 p.m. and for an open house on August 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The public tour afternoon dates are July 11, July 25, August 8, and August 22.
“Throughout the year, there is much public interest in the Laboratory and what goes on here. Summer offers the perfect opportunity for us have visitors come to the lab, learn about the science that is going on, and it gives us the opportunity show off our new ocean science and education campus,” says Graham Shimmield, executive director of the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences. “We particularly encourage people to visit during our Open House on August 1, where we will have hands-on activities for youngsters so young and old will enjoy their time with us.”
To accommodate visitors, advance reservations are required for the afternoon public tours by calling 207-315-2567, ext. 104. No advance registration is needed for the August 1 Open House.
