Trap Disposal Plan in Place
Traps 2 Treasure is a pilot program established by Gouldsboro, ME resident Becky O’Keefe to provide a place for lobstermen to dispose of traps they no longer use. The program was granted use of 2 acres of land adjacent to Gouldsboro recycling. Traps washed up on Gouldsboro’s shores can also be brought to the Traps 2 Treasure site. The program crushes and sells the scrap. There has been interest in the purchase of some of the traps. These are restored for fishing. All proceeds for scrap and resale go into a high school program.
