Terry Jason of Steuben, Maine
Born in Huntington, Long Island, New York, in 1935, Terry passed away on October 14, 2018. Terry built boats at an early age as had both his grandfathers. He built boats on Long Island, New York, for many years before moving to Maine in 1975. After a fire at his Belfast boat shop, he moved to Winterport where he continued building boats. In 1980 the family moved to Steuben where he built a large octagonal house and boat shops on Dyer Bay off the Goods Point Road.
Terry was an upbeat guy who liked to talk with people. He was active in various town management activities from the planning board to the fire department.
He built lobster and pleasure boats for customers around the United States, Canada and Europe. He is survived by his wife Barbara of 62 years, a sister, brother, four children and many grandchildren.
Terry was actively engaged in his boat building business until shortly before his passing. Business has been good at the shop with three boats underway. The T. Jason Boats company will continue building boats with the same staff at the Goods Point location in Steuben.
