List of Fisheries for 2019 Published as Required by Marine Mammal
Protection Act

NMFS published its proposed List of Fisheries for 2019, as required by the Marine Mammal Protection Act. The proposed list reflects new information on interactions between commercial fisheries and marine mammals. Within the list, the agency is proposing to remove the superscript “1” from the Gulf of Maine stock of harbor porpoise to indicate that this stock is no longer driving the Category I classification of the Northeast sink gillnet fishery.
