OysterFest Just Around the Corner

The 16th annual Wellfleet OysterFest is just weeks away. This year the event will be held on October 15 & 16 from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm each day. This two-day family festival celebrates the town’s famous oysters and clams and there is something for everyone: local cuisine, a fine arts and crafts show, educational programs, film screenings, cooking demonstrations, children’s activities, walking tours, live music and a road race. The premier attraction is the famous Oyster Shucking competition. Organizers are assuring a weekend full of hometown flavor and big time fun.

The Wellfleet OysterFest also helps bring awareness to a host of environmental and marine issues. This year marine pollution and what the public can do to help are highlighted. “After all a healthy ocean means a healthy shellfishery,” said SPAT Executive Director Michele Insley.

Tickets to the Wellfleet Oyster- Fest are on sale now through the event’s website and Facebook page. Ticket prices are $10 per day and children 12 and under are free.
