Rockweed Fishery Management Plan (FMP)

DMR will present the FMP to the Joint Standing Committee on Marine Resources of the Maine Legislature in January 2014 for their review. Through development of this FMP, the Department plans to elucidate coastwide management measures that establish sustainable harvest of the rockweed resource and can be practically administered and enforced. The Commissioner has convened a Rockweed Fishery Management Plan Development Team (PDT) to develop the plan. The PDT is comprised of members representing academia, industry, environmental organizations, and Department staff. Additionally, Maine Sea Grant staff will provide assistance during PDT meetings to help facilitate the process.
