Preliminary Lobster Landings 2010

As of February 17, the preliminary 2010 Maine seafood landings are 245,349,120 pounds with an ex-vessel value (boat price) of $448,734,076. This is an increase from 2009 levels by over 14 million pounds and about $120 million.

The preliminary 2010 lobster landings are 93,361,162 pounds which are the highest lobster landings ever recorded since DMR and the National Marine Fisheries Service began keeping records. These landings were valued at $308,706,785. The pounds landed increased from the 2009 levels by more than 12 million pounds and the total value increased by about $71 million. For reference, 2009 landings were 81,180,296 pounds with a value of $237,712,938.

In January 2008, DMR began collecting detailed trip level records from dealers. According to the information reported to date, there were 4,260 active commercial lobster harvesters out of the 5,915 commercial license holders in 2010.
