C Dragon tied up at the Maine Boats and Homes Show in Rockland, Maine in August 2018.
C Dragon, so named given the grandson of the owner’s interest in dragons at the time, is a 2007 Wilbur 34. The Wilbur 34 was an in-house design that Lee Wilbur said has been one of Wilbur Yachts’ best-selling hulls. He described it as a good running and seaworthy boat.
The C Dragon is still with the original Northeast Harbor owner. The solid glass hull is powered by a CAT C7 420HP. Top speed is 21 knots and it cruises at 17.5 knots. Teak was used throughout the interior. The sole is teak and holly.
The interior design is traditional, which at first glance on the day this photo was taken could easily be taken for a vintage 1930s cruiser. The ceilings in the wheelhouse and the forward cabin are mahogany painted white. John Kachmar, who is now the co-owner of Wilbur Yachts, oversaw the building of the boat. He said the goal was to keep the interior simple, but modern. The Octoplex electrical control panels are all touchscreen, set in stained and varnished teak.
“The 1930s traditional design was the owner’s concept and we worked with the owner to bring that to the boat,” said John Kachmar.
