Pembroke Historical Society Offer Two Summer Children’s Programs
Step Back in History Days- Each Thursday afternoon during the summer, starting July 12 and continuing to August 23rd , from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm, the little museum at Union Square on Old County Road will be open for two children’s programs. At 1:00 Susan Sanfilippo, curator for the Pembroke Historical Society’s and a retired museum educator, will lead children ages 8 through 12 years old on a journey back in time. Children will explore Pembroke’s past through stories, museum artifacts, historic documents, old photographs and arts and crafts. A second program will follow from 2:30 to 3:30 presented by Stephen Sanfilippo. An educator, historian and musician Dr. Sanfilippo will introduce children to the folk songs and instruments of America’s past and lead them in singing.
The program is free of charge and open to all children ages 8-12 who are interested in history, crafts, singing and music. Children need not attend both programs, nor know how to read music or play an instrument; just be interested in learning. Participants are encouraged to attend the first program on Thursday, July 12th even if they can’t attend all the programs throughout the summer. Please contact Mrs. Sanfilippo at 207-726-4747 for more information or to ask any question.
