Chester L. Pike, Sardine Carrier
Lubec, Maine 1950 Approaching completion is the 56-foot sardine carrier Chester L. Pike. The wheelhouse appears to be finished. It will contain controls for a 275 H.P. Cummins diesel which will be installed at Southwest Harbor. The boat was named for Chester L. Pike, father of Frank A. Pike, owner of the Seaboard Packing Company which commissioned the new vessel. Caption from the Lubec Historical Society. Next month The Fishermen’s Voice will publish a story about the Chester Pike, it’s builders and its name sake in Sullivan.
