Maine Cruise Ship Tourism, Too Much For Many Residents

 

Cruise ship passenger traffic in Bar Harbor is up 257% since 2013 according to the Portland Press Herald and the industry plans to get bigger. Two decades after the first cruise ship came to Bar Harbor, traffic snarled with tour buses and crowded sidewalks for blocks have many saying enough.

Quality of life is the issue. Bar Harbor expects nearly half a million cruise ship passengers to pour onto it’s streets this year. For what some say is a pittance spent at a relative handful of shops, the entire town has to relinquish its quality of life. Read the complete story here.
