Export Requirements to the
Republic of Korea

Starting Sunday, April 1st, live lobsters going to Korea will need a Korean health certificate. Shippers must be QMP facilities or they will have to have the lobsters physically inspected. The Department of Marine Resources inspection staff can assist with requests for health certificates, please email DMRPublicHealthDiv@maine.gov or call 633-9500.

The attached is a memo that describes the new requirements for export to the Republic of Korea (ROK), as well as the reiteration of current policy and requirements regarding all other fishery product exports to the Republic of Korea beginning April 1, 2018.

In the event stakeholders have additional questions, they can be referred to their regional NOAA Seafood Inspection Program servicing office. The memo and links to regional offices and information on export services can be found on the website at https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/national/seafood-commerce-certification/export-requirements-republic-korea.
