Ocean Acidity and the Ocean Food Web

 

Ocean acidity has been on our radar screen for many years. The cause has been known to be the ready absorption of carbon pumped into the atmosphere primarily from burning oil and coal. As more scientists have studied ocean acidity more is being discovered about what this dramatic change in the environment of sea life.

Carbon absorption in the ocean has been going on unseen for longer than it was recognized in the atmosphere. Now science is has discovered impacts on the entire food web of the worlds oceans. Changes in the life of everything from tiny zooplankton to large whales.
