Statewide Scallop Meetings

A round of local meetings will be hosted by DMR Policy and Science staff to discuss this past season, the upcoming season, scientific monitoring as well as the development of a Fishery Management Plan for the scallop fishery. The meetings will be hosted across the state and will be followed up by the Scallop Advisory Council 2014/15 Season Setting meeting to be held on June 30 in Ellsworth. We look forward to you joining us for a conversation on the current status of the fishery and potential changes for the future. NOAA Fisheries Closes Directed Fishery for Atlantic Herring in Area 1B as of 0001 Hours, May 24, 2014

 

NOAA Fisheries announces that the directed fishery for Atlantic herring in Area 1B will be closed as of 0001 hours, May 24, 2014. Vessels issued Federal Atlantic herring permits may not fish for, catch, possess or land more than 2,000 lb of herring in or from Area 1B per trip or calendar day, beginning May 24, 2014, through December 31, 2014, except that vessels that have entered port before 0001 hr on May 24, 2014, may offload and sell, from that trip, more than 2,000 lb of herring from Area 1B after the closure.
