Farrin’s Boatshop recently rolled out a new version of a boat they built 12 years ago.

Fishermen Tom and Kevin Anderson brought their 38' Wesmac to Bruce Farrin’s Boatshop in Walpole after 12 years of fishing off the eastern end of Long Island, NY. Farrin built the boat back then and said he felt pretty good about the loyalty shown by these customers in paying to have the boat hauled to Farrin’s and back to Long Island. He said the fishermen said they knew “Farrin’s would take good care of it.”

In the 12 years of operation the owners had no problems at all with the boat or the engine. Bruce said it was a complete restoration. Included in the list of what was done was Awlgrip on the hull, gelcoat on the top, new engine, new shaft and cutless bearings, rebuilt hydraulics, new aluminum framed windows, epoxy non- slip coating on  the cockpit deck and a wiring upgrade.

The boat was repowered with a John Deere 6090 AFM 75 downrated to 375HP @2300RPM. “All this brought RED STORM to like new condition at a fraction of the cost for a new boat,” Bruce said.

Farrin said he is finishing off a 38' Calvin Beal Yacht and rebuilding a 1977, 36' Jarvis Newman as a bass boat.
