Pick Up Truck Prize at
48th Winter Harbor Races

The Winter Harbor Race Committee has made a pick up truck the prize for their rescheduled 2012 lobster boat races on September 8th. The 2006 Chevrolet Silverado has leather seats, sun-roof, power locks and windows, air conditioning, automatic transmission and four wheel drive.

“It’s one boat, one chance on the truck. Every qualified boat that races has a chance to win the truck”, said Chris Beyers of the Winter Harbor Race Committee.

The sponsors of this year’s truck prize are Peter Mullen, Irish Venture Group, Inc., D.C. Air and Seafood, Nautilus Marine Fabrication, and Westmoreland Fisheries. These companies teamed up with Darling’s Auto Mall in Ellsworth to sponsor Winter Harbor prizes in a three year plan. Next year they plan to offer another truck and for the 50th anniversary of the Winter Harbor Lobster Boat Races in 2014 they are planning to offer a new truck for a prize.

The original August 11, 2012 race date was cancelled due to weather conditions. All lobster boat owners are invited to race in the September 8th event which begins at 10am. Beyers offered special thanks to Ron Thomas of R.E. Thomas Marine Hardware in Hancock, Maine. Thomas has been a major supporter of the Winter Harbor lobster boat races.
