MLA Awards Dierdre Gilbert for Outstanding Service

Dierdre Gilbert, assistant to the commissioner of marine resources in Maine, was recognized by the Maine Lobstermen’s Association with an Outstanding Service Award, presented during the MLA’s annual meeting on March 2, during the Maine Fishermen’s Forum. MLA president David Cousens said, “Commissioners come and commissioners go. But there’s one person in the department who’s been there the whole time, an unbelievable advocate for the fisheries. She has done an outstanding job through the years.” Gilbert has been with the DMR for 10 years – a period of time in which, she said, she’s seen a lot of changes. “It’s been a pleasure to be there,” she said.
